"I DO NOT RECOMMEND this book to anyone that is serious about taking the TExES Educational Diagnostician (153) certification exam. It was a waste of my money. The assessment and evaluation section of the book was very short which surprised me considering that's the biggest section (33%) of the test. I feel that the practice questions/materials provided online through my TEA account were more aligned to the actual test questions and luckily, I'm smart enough that I passed."

  • I DO NOT RECOMMEND this book to anyone that is serious about taking the TExES Educational Diagnostician (153) certification exam. It was a waste of my money. The assessment and evaluation section of the book was very short which surprised me considering that's the biggest section (33%) of the test. I feel that the practice questions/materials provided online through my TEA account were more aligned to the actual test questions and luckily, I'm smart enough that I passed.
  • I wish someone would of told me about this book!! There was nothing in this book that was helpful, but just some of the questions on the back. The book is more like a notebook with definitions that are divided into 4 sections (Students with disabilities) where it talks about stages of development and common syndromes. The second part is (Assessment and evaluation) where it has definitions types of assessments commonly used and IEP procedures; (Curriculum and Instruction) it mentions some impacts and expectations as teachers; and lastly (Foundations and Professional Roles and Responsibilities) this section is about the history of sped ed. At the end it has 100 multiple choice questions with answers and a brief explanations. I gave it a 2 because I felt the content of the book was nothing I didn't know. I didn't give it a one because I found questions and answers had some straight forward information of laws and expectations. I would not recommend this book because the information can be gathered from other sources for free.
  • This book contains practical examples of evidence-based practices. This is an excellent reference book for individuals preparing to be certified as SPED teacher. It was really easy to follow and reference specific information. I think it will be really helpful through my first year. I think it was well worth the money. I will try and do an update after using it to pass my certification exams. The authors did an excellent job of anticipating and discussing the issues and concerns new special educators face. Reading this and knowing it is available, as a reference for my first year of teaching has given me more confidence and peace of mind.
  • Giving it 3stars because using it for extra practice wouldn't hurt if you have the money to waste on it. This book did not help me at all. Do yourself a favour and sign up with Certify teachers. I assure you that you will pass on your first try. Goodluck
  • Love this book. Everything about this book was helpful, but I really liked the 100 practice questions it has. Going through these questions, figure out your weaknesses and do some background research on them; it will help you prepare for the exam. I did really well on my actual exam and I found a lot of the questions to be similar to the questions from this book.
  • I have used the ESL and SPED Resources with great results and I’m looking forward to success again with Educational Diagnostician Study Guide.  The study guides are easy to follow, effective, and portable.
  • This series provides lots of practice. I liked the method of first taking the test as an opened book without being timed. Next, take the test opened book with time. Then, take it the way it was meant to take.
  • This book has taken all of the info given to me in grad school and made it into a concise study guide that focuses specifically on what will be needed on the educational diagnostician test. I needed something to focus directly on that area, which is what this book has done.
