Deprecated A Young Adult PostApocalyptic Thriller Michael Karr 9781790606481 Books Reviews
- I really enjoyed reading this book. It moved at a pretty quick pace and there wasn't a time where I felt bored with the characters. Each character was unique and had their own personality. The only minor complaint I had with it had to do with the end. Personally I thought it was a bit rushed without a definitive conclusion. Hopefully the author is planning on writing a sequel in some fashion to continue the story.
- I enjoyed the writing and the storyline very much. The sarcastic humor had me laughing at several points. Looking forward to the next one.
- Earth is devastated by natural disasters. In the aftermath, society is fractured into the haves and have nots based on cybernetic enhancements available only to the few.
Another dystopian future. It is kind of depressing that so many of these books are coming out, as these futures are rather bleak. This one is certainly no exception. The elite prey (rather literally) on the common folk, but our heroine is part of a small group that fights back to protect the masses.
Other than being a bit depressed and angry at the setting (which was probably the author's goal), I found the story to be quite engaging and well written. I found myself drawn in from the very beginning and immediately liked our little circle of rebels. The story was very well written as were the characters, who had depth, emotions and realistic responses. And they were strong, willing to fight to improve the life of those around them. It kept me turning pages to the very end.
Highly recommended.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout for review purposes. - Just finished reading and I want more! Love the characters. In a world devastated by natural disasters, the story centers around what is left of Seattle. There is the inevitable struggle between the haves and have-nots. With the haves being enhanced mentally and physically and the have- nots living as downtrodden normals. There is a mystery surrounding some prominent deaths and who is to blame? The mystery is solved with a few twists and a good share of suspense. There is definitely room for the story to continue. I hope the author gives us more. I got my copy free, but wanted to write a review so others could enjoy it as much as I did.
- I really enjoyed this book. It took a different look at the post-apocalyptic young adult story. I liked the characters in the book and felt they would have friends of mine if I were to go through that time. I enjoyed and rooted for the leads and really liked the way the story went. I was sorry to see it end and would like to see a second book that picks up where this one left off.
* I received an ARC of this book * - Deprecated by Michael Karr is a wonderful story to read. This is a brand new story for me to read by a brand new author. Man I so loved reading this story with the strong characters and wonderful storyline. I can not wait to see what else this wonderful author will write next.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. - She hunts the elects as she believes they all should die but when she killed a high ranking son. Now everything she knows is now in danger. Ever her family is in danger. She will have to work with the enemy where she finds things are not as they seem. How will they get on? Will they find the truth? See what will happen
- The story overall was well-written, with well-developed characters with their own unique personalities, but as far as interest level, in terms of my anticipation of wondering what was next, wasn't piqued until the sixth chapter. A simplistic, but effective ending, I actually rate this book as a 4 and a half.
